I was going for a Nigerian party and I needed to tie my gele (HeadWrap; One of our rich African cultural heritage). I actually do fairly well tying my gele but I wanted something more professional.
My Mum was visiting and I have seen her tie her gele elegantly for years and feeling confident of her ability to tie my gele perfectly, I matched to her room.
“Mum, please I need help with my gele”. I said casually.
My Mum took time to tie my gele elegantly. As she tied my gele, I began to think of the little things in life that we take for granted.
Being elderly, I knew it had to be a little tedious for my mum standing for a considerable length of time getting the gele right but not once did she complain instead she took pleasure in making me look like a Queen.
A mother they say is a priceless jewel. Let me reiterate the saying… “Mother’s are irreplaceable jewels of esteem value.
Life is full of so many blessings and a lot of times we fail to appreciate those little blessings that God has bestowed on us.
Having parents to guide us is a huge blessing.
A quick phone-call to check on our parents is one of the little blessings we can give to them. As our parents get older, even when living far away it’s important to stay connected with them.
Let us appreciate those little blessings like waking up in the morning hale & hearty.
That small but cozy house that you live in; be thankful. There are homeless people everywhere.
The air we breathe; Being healthy; I can go on with my very long list of life’s blessings but I have a party to attend.
Wearing my gele like a crown I walked elegantly to the party. Feeling like a Queen in my Gele I rocked the party & I believe I caught a few envious glances.
I love my Mum to the moon and back and I pray that God Almighty continue to keep her. May God bless all amazing mothers out there.
I know it’s not Mother’s Day but our Mothers deserve a shoutout everyday for their selflessness.
