When you get a "No"; Try "I can do it Myself"
It was one of those days when you have a million and one things to do and it seems you just can't get a break. I was just getting done with cooking lunch and getting ready to do the laundry.
Amidst all of the hustle and bustle that makes up my daily schedule was my little girl waiting patiently for me to come help set up her doll house. It would actually be the umpteenth time she would be asking. I had been procrastinating for a while given my very busy schedule.
"I did it mum!" I heard her shout with excitement from her bedroom. I walked over to see the reason for the sudden joyous outburst.
I got to her room and lo and behold, the doll house was all set. She had told me repeatedly for the past couple of days how it was impossible for her to get it done all by herself even with the instruction that came with the doll house. My inability to help however gave her the determination to put in some effort into doing it herself. She was able to put her frustration after waiting endlessly for me, into positive action. That action yielded a positive result.
In life, we sometimes get rejections, we get disappointments and we get some noes from where we least expect. It is so amazing how much we underestimate our abilities. We tend to depend on others for a lot of things that with just a little bit of effort, we could achieve on our own. We do not discover our true worth or our ability until we are faced with that big wall of "No"which then brings us to the reality of our individual abilities.
I am thankful to all those who said no to me. It's because of them I did it myself
Albert Einstein
Like Albert Einstein's quote, I have been faced with challenges that I never thought I was able to handle by myself. When push came to shove however, I was able to muster determination and effort. I decided I was going to be strong. I used the challenge as a motivator, and took a positive step amidst the obstacles which brought about the best in me.
Challenges could sometimes seem like a very big barrier towards achieving a purpose. That challenging situation however could be the stepping stone to your breakthrough. That discomfort that you feel is telling you that it's time to move from that position of inability to one of "I can do this". The reason why you can, lies in your ability to rise above that which tries to take you down.
To all those going through one difficulty or the other, stay strong. Stay positive and have faith and believe that with God on your side, you can achieve that which seem impossible. With God, all things are possible.
